Booking & payment

Do I need to make a booking?

Yes, bookings are essential so we have time to prepare the horses for you.

How do I make a booking?

There are a few ways to book:

  • Book online through the Book a Ride button, which shows live dates and availability and takes secure payment. Gift vouchers can be purchased here too.
  • Fill in the enquiry form on the Contact page.
  • Email bookings@jestersflat.com.
  • Call us on 08 9757 4562. If the phone is unattended, leave a clear message with your phone number.
Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers can be purchased through the online Book a Ride button and used towards any tour.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes. We can arrange a private ride just for you, with more flexibility than a general tour. It is $165 per person for one hour. Private tours are not available over school holidays or other peak periods, so just ask us in advance.

How can I pay?

We have EFTPOS and accept most cards, except American Express.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Please let us know of any cancellation or change at least 48 hours before your booking. Cancelling more than 48 hours before is charged 25%, and less than 48 hours is charged 100% (with a credit voucher towards a future ride where possible). Full details are on our Cancellation Policy page.

Riders & suitability

What is the minimum age to ride?

Generally 10 years for an escorted trail ride. Some rides have a higher minimum (the Boranup Forest Ride is not suited to under 15s), so please check the individual tour details.

Is there a weight restriction?

As a guide, the maximum is around 95kg. If you are over this, please call us to discuss rather than assuming you cannot ride. We make exceptions for very experienced riders, and can often help if you are a little over but fit and healthy. This also applies if you are very petite and would like a smaller horse.

How do I know what my experience level is?

We have a simple guide to help you judge your own level. See When choosing a horse ride.

Can a young child ride on the same horse as an adult?

No. For safety, we only allow one rider per horse, so there are no tandem rides.

Do you do pony leads for young children?

Our trail rides are for children 10 and over. For younger children, our Horse Connect sessions are a gentle, ground-based way to meet and connect with our horses, with a little pony lead at the end. Suitable from age 4; get in touch about children under 10 and we will help you find the right experience.

On the day

What should I wear?

Wear long trousers and enclosed shoes with socks. We supply helmets (which must be worn when riding), boots if needed, fly veils, wet weather gear, and insect repellent and sunscreen if required. We also have hot showers, so feel free to bring a change of clothes and a towel.

What happens in wet weather?

We ride in all conditions except dangerous weather, and have wet weather jackets available on the day. If the weather is dangerous (for example a storm with thunder and lightning) we will try to reschedule, and if that is not possible the ride is cancelled with a credit voucher or refund. This is covered by our Cancellation Policy.

Is there somewhere for non-riders to wait?

Yes. There is a clubhouse with a lounge, books, games and children's activities, plus a treehouse, a cubby house and a sandpit. You are also welcome to go bushwalking and bird watching in the surrounding bushland.

How far is Jesters Flat from Margaret River?

About 20 minutes' drive (18km east), at 1549 Rosa Brook Rd, Rosa Brook. There is limited mobile reception on the way out, so check your directions before you leave town.

Cellar door & wine

What are the cellar door opening hours?

The cellar door is open daily from 10am to 4pm for tastings, closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, and before noon on ANZAC Day.

Do you sell wine?

Yes. We produce our own estate Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy a tasting after your ride, or order online through The Store. You must be 18 or over to purchase.

Stay & multi-day treks

Is there accommodation on site?

We have luxury bell tents used on our multi-day horse riding treks. They are part of the trek rather than separate accommodation, so are not available to hire on their own. For other nearby options, contact the Margaret River visitor centre at margaretriver.com.

Do you offer multi-day treks?

Yes. We run multi-day treks such as overnight campouts and farmhouse treks, with glamping included. Get in touch for upcoming dates.
